A debate on the new book by Alice Koubová Síla odolnosti and on the themes opened up in the book by its individual respondents will take place on Friday 13 November 2026 at the PANT centre in Ostrava. The book is published as part of Edice N (Deník N).
What exactly can be done at a moment when we see around us the disintegration of democratic institutions and shared values, and when it seems that the right of the stronger is prevailing ever more often? If we care about freedom and equality among people, is it above all necessary to act quickly and effectively, or rather to change our attitude and not stop thinking? Or both at once? Does it make sense in this situation to look for sources of optimism, or is it, on the contrary, necessary to be a pessimist? And is everything political today, or are we also allowed to live personal stories, to have a right to privacy? Answers to these and other questions will be offered in a debate between the philosopher Alice Koubová and the political scientist Pavel Barša. Moderated by Deník N editor Filip Zajíček
