At the invitation of STRONG EUROPE, Prague will welcome Dr Bozhena Andrushchyshyn – head of the Centre for Psychological and Psychiatric Support, St Panteleimon Hospital – UNBROKEN (Lviv, UK). Her lecture
War, Trauma and Resilience: Lessons from Ukraine
will take place on 20 October 2026 from 17:30 at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Department of Psychology, Celetná 20, Prague 1, Old Town. The event will be moderated by doc. Alice Koubová and prof. Jan Vevera, room number 342.
The lecture will be held in English and will focus on the impact of long-term threats on the civilian population, the experience of Ukrainian experts and ways of strengthening the psychological resilience of society. According to official sources, approximately 9,700 Ukrainians had returned from Russian captivity by August 2026. A considerable number of them spent many months or even years in Russian detention facilities. Their psychological and psychiatric condition is often very serious and presents a complex clinical and therapeutic challenge. This issue is addressed systematically by the Mental Health Centre of the UNBROKEN rehabilitation complex in Lviv, which has gained extensive experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of former prisoners.
